About this Speaker

Aleksandr Semjonov is lecturer in veterinary anaesthesiology at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. He is currently Chief Clinical Officer of Clinical Veterinary Medicine and head of the University’s Animal Clinic. His research has focused on zoo and wildlife anaesthesiology and the investigation of novel anaesthetic combinations in number of species of wild animals. In 2021 he obtained his PhD in wildlife anaesthesiology. Dr Semjonov works as a practicing anesthesiologist for zoo and wild animals around the World. Since 2018 he has been the chairman of the veterinary group of the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos and Aquaria. He has broad clinical and scientific experience in long-term anaesthesia of wild carnivores, giraffes and elephants. Aleksandr has widely collaborated in research with institutions across Europe, South Africa, Russia, India and Japan.
